The Bloch brand came to life with the construction of a single pair of ballet shoes in 1930s Australia. Founder and shoemaker Jacob Bloch emigrated to Australia where he once saw a ballerina struggling to stay en pointe and promised to make her some better shoes. It didn’t take long for Bloch’s reputation to spread and soon he was making shoes for a host of visiting ballet companies and prima ballerinas that included Olga Spessitzava, Tamara Toumanova and Helene Kirsova. The shoes have evolved to include a full range of high quality dance wear and street shoes that’re as trusted in the industry today as it was when Bloch was still designing ballet shoes.
